Western
Yeast Company’s 2X-2-2-5 has stood the test when it comes to improving
palatability in cat food rations. The test took place at a private laboratory in
October 2004. Western Yeast Culture 2X-2-2-5 was tested against a popular brand
of brewers dried yeast in a 32% dry cat food. The cat food diets were identical
except for the yeast source.

Trial Procedure
One
hundred fifty grams of each ration was offered to a panel of 20 cats. Bowl
position was reversed daily to prevent ‘left-right’ bias. The brewers dried
yeast was approached first on 19 out of 40 occasions but was only consumed first
10 of those
times. Not only did the cats prefer the 2X yeast by a ratio of 1.21 to 1, but
the total consumption was higher by 1.2 g/kg/day. See Chart A and Chart B below:
